MULLICA HILL, NJ — On Saturday July 18, 2020, the women of the Mullica Hill Women’s Tri Club (MHWTC), along with their families and friends, singlehandedly offered area farms their best sales day of their summer harvest season.
Beginning at the Pine Tavern Distillery, New Jersey’s first farm distillery, the group took to the roads on a 20-mile bike route that included stops at three farms along the way. Each stand featured a specialty item for the cyclists as they shopped for fresh produce, flowers, crafts and gifts.
The day ended where it began at the Pine Tavern Distillery with a spirits tasting while sag wagons gathered the purchases and delivered them to the cyclists. “This is my favorite MHWTC event,” stated Colleen Fossett, one of the founders of the Club. “It gives our members an opportunity to support the farming community in a healthy and tangible way.”
Throughout the years, a popular stop for “Ride the Farm” has been Sorbello Girls Farm Market in Mullica Hill, NJ. Sorbello’s thanked MHWTC for including their farm on the course this past Saturday and said, “We were thrilled to be part of the ride.” Michelle Powell, co-founder of MHWTC stated, “this is such a ‘feel-good’ event for us. We can’t think of a better way to give back to our local farmers while we take to the roads and enjoy the beauty of South Jersey.”
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Mullica Hill Women’s Tri Club is among the nation’s largest all female triathlon club boasting over 400 members. Along with helping women achieve personal fitness goals since, the club has raised funds for various charities and received many awards and recognition for their contributions to the sport of triathlon.
