Trinity Wildcats celebrate former state champion baseball teams

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The 50th Anniversary celebration continues at Trinity Presbyterian School. On Friday October 30th the school celebrated the Varsity Baseball Team’s state championship wins. Head Coach Ken Whittle was joined by 28 former players, representing six state championship teams. They were honored at halftime of the Trinity vs. St. James football game.

Whittle became the head coach in 1982. He was the assistant coach during the team’s first season in 1981. Whittle and the Wildcats won their first state championship in 1985. They also won in 1996, 2000, 2012, 2013 and 2015.

In his 43 years at Trinity, Whittle has won over 750 games, coached 84 state champions and has been inducted into the Alabama High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame, Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and the Port St. Joe High School Hall of Fame. Additionally, he is the only coach in the state of Alabama to win baseball championships in 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A.

Trinity defeated their in town rival Saint James 33-7.
