Satellite Scorpions boys soccer going strong

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. — The Satellite High School Men’s Varsity soccer team is having another strong season after coming off last season’s run to the Final 16 in the class 4A State Soccer Tournament. Second year Head Coach Clovis Simas has been instrumental in the team’s recent success with a 9-win season. Simas is developing his current Scorp soccer players using the experience he gained as a standout collegiate and semiprofessional player and as a long-time collegiate coach. This year’s team is anchored defensively by second year starting goalkeeper, junior Koa Webb, who routinely makes incredible saves. Backing up Koa this year is freshman, Zack Raddaoui. Senior co-captain Seamus Wixted leads a solid defensive line in front of Webb. Senior co-captain Jasper Steensma led the team in scoring last season but has shown the versatility transitioning to be a stalwart defender. Junior Jacob Woods is another very multiskilled player who along with sophomores Luke Pruiett and Thiago Assumpcao and senior Brandon Neil have really helped to solidify the defense. Junior Joe Peri orchestrates the team’s offense from the midfield and often looks to get the ball on the feet of senior co-captain Gene Lewis, who has been one of the team’s most dynamic players and leading goal scorers for the Scorps. Senior Ben Hamelin and Sophomore Josh Hoffman also help to control games in the midfield. Offensively, sophomore George Maris and junior Mason Garner, along with Woods push the pace and make things difficult for opposing defenses. Also up front, freshmen CJ Seinkner and Jason Wright have shown the ability to make plays and score goals at the high school level.

We wish all the seniors, which also include Garrett Palmer, Preston Ura, and Bradey Anderson much success in the future.
