Midlothian girls basketball’s Layton stepping down as head coach
MIDLOTHIAN, Va. (BVM) — After nine seasons at the helm of the Midlothian Trojans’ girls basketball team, head coach Adam Layton announced his decision to step down as the head coach.
I appreciate all the relationships and memories over the last 9 years! It’s been a great ride! https://t.co/wCjq0B80ZW

The decision ends Layton’s successful tenure with the Trojans where he accumulated 126 wins including a Region 4A Championship and two state tournament appearances. The highlight of his Midlothian career likely came when the Trojans finished as the state runner-up in 2015 where they faced fellow Richmond-based school Monacan High for the title. Though the team would lose the game 65-57, it showed just how successful a Layton-coached team could be.
Though he may no longer be running the Trojans girls basketball program, Layton will still be helping the school’s athletic community as the head softball coach. While it may mark an end of an era for Midlothian girls basketball, Trojans fans will be able to look back fondly on Layton’s time leading the team. For Layton, hopefully he will be able to continue piling up wins and accolades on the softball diamond instead of the basketball court.
Coach Layton @MidloGirlsHoops great connections, team building, alumni support and awesome love & support for each 🏀🏀player you coached @GoMidlo….the new ride @midlotrojansb and I know you will do great💙💛 https://t.co/0gf7daYQcq
