The LPS Foundation raises close to $70,000

LAWTON, Okla. (BVM) — On Monday, April 5, the Lawton Public School Foundation raised nearly $70,000 at it’s first golf tournament.

“The Lawton Public School Foundation (LPSF) was founded in an effort to address continuing cuts in the educational budgets for Lawton Public Schools,” LPSF stated on their website. “The LPSF administers funds which provide local educators with scientific, educational, and charitable funding not available from the school district. Funded grants are used by teachers in the LPS school district for in-class educational materials, technology, and other teaching aids that would not be otherwise be available to them.”

The event was canceled last year due to COVID-19. So, it was planned to have the event outdoors this year. The course was in excellent condition, and there was obviously a great turnout.

The LPSF has been around for some time and has done a lot of good for so many students. It’s been around since 1991, and during that 30-year stretch, the LPSF has raised over $800,000.
