ABA returns to Midland with Thrillers
INDIANAPOLIS — The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the league will be returning to Midland, Texas, after a three-year hiatus with the Midland Thrillers owned by local businessman Sharron Miller.
“We are very pleased to return to Midland,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “It was a great ABA market and I have no doubt that it will again be one.”
“We strive in building, helping communities and people in and around the Permian basic,” added Miller. “We want to give the youth in our inner cities opportunities to strive in basketball excellence as well as community interaction. We believe hard work and dedication can help achieve any goal and using basketball will give our community opportunity to grow stronger. We are well aware of the hard work and dedication it will take to get this project off the ground, but with the help from our community and local businesses, we believe we can take Midland basketball to a level it has never been before and our community awareness to new heights.”
