Allen Eagles look to continue winning ways in regionals
ALLEN, Texas (BVM) — This past weekend, the Allen Eagles wrestling teams dominated their district tournaments.
The Eagles, who are 11-time defending state champions, scored 331.5 points. That was more than double than the runner-up team, Plano West (141) scored. During their district tournament run, the Eagles captured 11 individual titles.
All of the 14 wrestlers who participated in the tournament will be heading to the Region II-6A tournament. Like the district tournament, this tournament will also be held at Allen High School.
As for the Lady Eagles wrestling team, it was a closer contest than the boys’ tournament. The Lady Eagles placed third, but they’ll send six wrestlers to the regional tournament. Those include individual winners Eliana Marinex, Tabiah Walwyn-ton, Jasmin Robinson, Laylla Liles, Monica Tranka, and Ester Peters.
It’s an exciting time for both wrestling squads. Look for both teams to keep the winning ways going once the regional tournament begins.
