Verona Wildcats are off to state

VERONA, Wis. (BVM) — The alternate fall girls tennis season is coming to an end with the singles and doubles state tournament this Thursday and Friday as well as the team state tournament on May 1.

The Verona Area High School Wildcats will be present at all the events.

First, junior Samantha Breitbach will compete in the singles tournament on Thursday with her first match being against Jessica Kleman from Stevens Point. Then junior Morgan Kreuser and sophomore Julia Huseth, who went 10-7 during the regular season, will compete in the first round of doubles tournament against Oshkosh West’s Brinley Bettcher and Courtney Carpenter.

From there the Wildcats will compete in the team state tournament on May 1, playing Neenah in the state semifinals. Verona will look to avenge  its loss to Neenah earlier in the season.

The Wildcats went 9-6 this season and won the Jainsville Craig Sectional, beating all other teams by 10 points on their way to state.
