Nevada’s Fritz named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week

RENO, Nev. (BVM) – For the second time this season, Nevada pitcher Kendall Fritz has earned a Mountain West Conference weekly honor. The sophomore has been named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week after an outstanding weekend performance against Colorado State.

“Kendall continues to prove that she is one of the top pitchers in the Mountain West,” Nevada head coach Josh Taylor said in a press release. “She earned every bit of this honor with her performance this past weekend against Colorado State.”

Over two games against the Rams on April 17-18, Fritz went 2-0 and posted a 0.93 ERA in 15 innings of work. The Frisco, Texas, native recorded five strikeouts and allowed just one earned run on six hits in the Wolf Pack’s series-opening win over Colorado State. Then in a 4-3, eight-inning victory on April 18, Fritz again gave up just one earned run while striking out five batters.

Fritz is now fourth in the MWC in both wins (8) and strikeouts (82). The Wolf Pack (17-11) take the field again on Saturday and Sunday for a three-game set at Fresno State (27-7).
