Verona Wildcats well represented at CCM National Invitational Tournament

PLYMOUTH, Minn. (BVM) — The CCM National Invitational Tournament begins today in Plymouth, Minn. and features some of the best hockey players from across the country. 

The teams are composed of players from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Colorado, Michigan and North Dakota. 

This year the Verona Area High School boys hockey team has four players competing in the tournament as well as both head coach Joel Marshal and assistant coach Josh Biser. 

Seniors Kaden Grant, Nate Jurrens and Leo Renlund will be playing on the Wisconsin Seniors team and junior Anthony Heinrichs will play on the Wisconsin HP team. 

Renlund, Jurrens and Grant were all awarded first team all-state honors following the season in which the Wildcats were state runners-up to Hudson. 

Reunland led Verona in assists and was third in total points while Heinrich was fourth in total points on the team this year. As goalkeeper for the Wildcats, Grant had over 300 saves and had a save percentage of .922. 

Each team in the tournament will play four games and the tournament will take place at the Plymouth Ice Center.
