Mamaroneck girls lacrosse captain has high hopes for her final season

MAMRONECK, N.Y. — Due to the altered schedules this year, Spring Sports got a late start with the first games not scheduled until late April. We caught up with Riley Moore, Senior Captain of the Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team, ahead of their first game, to get her thoughts on her final season wearing the Tigers uniform.

What are your goals for the team this year?

This year, our goal is to get back to the section finals. We have made it there the past two seasons and we are absolutely determined to win the championship.

How does missing last year’s season due to COVID impact this year?

Losing last season to COVID means that all teams, including us, are completely different than they were two years ago. It is a challenge to prepare for games against teams we know very little about, so we have to be ready for anything.

Who are your biggest rivals?

Our biggest rival is probably North Rockland.

What are your personal goals for the season?

My personal goal for the season is to lead us to section finals and motivate my teammates to be the best they can possibly be. I want to make the most of every moment I have left with Mamaroneck Lacrosse!

What is your best memory with MHS lacrosse?

My best memory with Mamaroneck Lacrosse was making a comeback in the second half against Mahopac in the sectional semi-finals of 2019. Everyone was 100% dedicated to winning that game and it was so rewarding when we ended up beating them by a few goals!!

Where are your plans after graduation?

After graduation I’ll be playing lacrosse for Davidson College. I’m hoping to major in Pre-Medicine and Allied Health Professions.
