Rylie Merchant, 9, is one of Georgia’s best swimmers in her age group

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. — When Rylie Merchant, isn’t making a splash in the pool, she’s shining on the stage! The 9-year-old Milton girl placed 13th in the state in the 10U breaststroke at the Georgia State Swim Championship at Georgia Tech this past February. She was the only 9-year-old Swim Atlanta team member to qualify for the 10U finals in the state of Georgia.

This little shark has been swimming since she was four years old. She swims for Swim Atlanta Team in Roswell and also the Alpharetta Sharks. No wonder her pet is Moonlight, a beta fish!

And when it comes to advice, mom knows best! Rylie credits her mom with teaching her to be confident and to try new things. She also tells her to give back and lead by example.

When Rylie isn’t in the pool, you can find her swinging for the fences on her 10U softball team.

Born in Fayetteville, Georgia, this Birmingham Falls Elementary School 3rd Grader loves pizza, steak, chicken chili, and dining out at Village Tavern.

When she’s not playing sports, Rylie loves writing songs and singing. This rising star has performed in several local productions including Frozen, Shrek, and The Little Mermaid. She also sang at Halcyon’s Got Talent and won the 10 and under category. She’s now working on recording a song she wrote on her very own!

Her favorite quote is a perfect fit, “dream big and don’t give up on your dreams.”
