Satellite HS girls tennis to amaze in 2021 season

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. — The JV and Varsity Satellite girls tennis team (21 girls, led by 1 Head Coach and 2 Assistant Coaches) work hard in conditioning, practices, matches and their own individual training to improve individually and as a team.

This effort has led to a successful 14-2 record, undefeated in our conference and district matches. The team dominated this season, even with the demands of the new pandemic environment, academics and other extracurricular activities they have to manage.

The valiant varsity line up consists of Ellie Carpenter (line 1), Kenzie Farson (line 2, captain), Amelia Dunkin (line 3, co-captain), Ava Noel (line 4), Courtney Lawson (line 5), Maizy Guertin (line 6), Maddie Simpkins (line 7), Ashlyn Edds (line 8), Lana Stout (line 9), Laura Bersani (line 10) and Summer Stocks (line 11).

Our toughest win this season was competing against Viera High (4-3); it ended with a “nail-biter,” 10-point tie breaker win that line 1 doubles closed out for the match (Ellie, Kenzie). We also handily won singles lines 1, 4 and line 2 doubles.

Maddie (3rd year letter) and Ashlyn (1st year letter), our two graduating seniors will be missed, but are heading off to bright futures at UF and FAU/Palm Beach, respectively. They will continue to enjoy tennis through intramurals and by playing with friends.

Our Lady Scorps have been so blessed by many generous business sponsors and donations that fund their match play, courts, events and equipment. The girls are looking forward to ending this year by playing competitively in the post-season matches.
