Shakeel Moore transfers to Mississippi State
STARKVILLE, Miss. (BVM) — The Mississippi State men’s basketball team has been in the market for a new point guard. Luckily, the transfer portal has been a big help.
The Bulldogs have received a commitment from N.C. State transfer Shakeel Moore that he would be bringing his talents to Starkville.

The North Carolina native also drew interest from Creighton, Georgia, Marquette, Memphis, Pittsburgh and Western Kentucky. However, Moore ultimately decided his best opportunity was at MSU.
Last season, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound freshman averaged 6.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals, which was the team-high. Moore also shot 44% from the field and 34% from behind the arc.
The Bulldogs have been looking for a point guard since former Mississippi State DJ Steward decided to stay in the 2021 NBA Draft, ending his college career.
Making this decision, Moore has become the third transfer player that the Bulldogs have added to the roster. Moore is joining former Tar Heel Garrison Brooks and former Memphis Tiger DJ Jeffries. Brooks has one year left, and Jeffries has three years of eligibility left.
All three are expected to make a profound impact when the season tips off.
