Wingerter is a girls lacrosse player on the rise at Red Bank Catholic High

RED BANK, N.J. (BVM) — Red Bank Catholic High School sophomore Anna Wingerter is a lacrosse player on the rise. In late May, Wingerter was voted as the No. 1 sophomore girls lacrosse player in New Jersey by NJ.com. Out of 75 nominees, Wingerter took the highest spot after accruing more than 20,000 votes out of the nearly 100,000 that were casted.

The multi-sport athlete, who also participates in field hockey, cross country and mixed martial arts, actually had her heart set on lacrosse early on. According to her connectlax profile, in the fifth grade she started to play the game for a neighboring town because where she grew up didn’t have a program.

The continuous determination to play the game has paid off for Wingerter now five years later. The 5-foot-5 athlete who can play attacker and midfielder also noted in her profile that she’s dominant in both hands. This season alone, she scored 40 goals and averaged 2.35 goals per game as a starter on the team.

Wingerter hasn’t committed to a school yet, according to her profile. But, Wingerter may get the offer she’s looking for since she has two more seasons left to play the game at the high school level.
