CHASKA, Minn. — Since 2009, Chaska Area Fishing With Friends (CAFWF) is a non-profit organization composed of volunteers from Chaska, Chanhassen, Victoria, Minnetonka, Carver and surrounding areas who help others by sharing their knowledge and passion for angling. Fishing with Friends relies on both volunteers and the support of the City of Chaska and the Parks and Recreation Department. Each year they hold approximately 75 Lake Minnetonka boat trips accommodating nearly 1,000 anglers on their 24-foot pontoon. These 90-minute trips, including either fishing or pleasure cruising, can accommodate groups of up to ten passengers for youth, veterans, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities.

On Sunday, June 6, The CAFWF hosted their annual Family Fishing Academy, which is designed for youth ages 6 to 12 and their parents/guardians. Families are invited to learn about the regional fish species and their habitats, learn skills like tying fishing knots and how to cast a lure, plus much more. Once the families have completed their learning stations, each registered child will receive a new rod and reel! 

The CAFWF is also sponsoring a fishing photo contest which runs now through August with winners drawn monthly. You can submit your fishing photos (1 per person per month) at chaskafishingwithfriends.com/events-2021/#fishingphotocontest for a chance to win a $50 Cabin Fever Gift Card.

Chaska Fishing with Friends is 100% volunteer-based and depends on donations to provide the programs and support to the community.
