Mead High School’s Timbre Shehee wins regional golf title
MEAD, Colo. (BVM) — Mead High School junior Timbre Shehee is headed back to the Class 4A girls golf state tournament for the second time, and she’ll be doing so with a regional championship to her name.
Shehee captured the individual title Monday at the Class 4A Region 3 tournament held at Highland Hills Golf Course in Greeley, Colo. She carded 7-over par 79 — the only sub-80 score of the tourney — to take first place by two strokes over Ponderosa senior Morgan Palermo (80).
Shehee overcame a rough start to take the title. She had five bogeys through her first five holes before bouncing to shoot 2-over par over her final 13. Shehee, who placed ninth at state as a freshman, will be joined at state by teammates Jodean Amen and Callie Pyle, who shot 102 and 104, respectively, to make the cut for the Mavericks.
The state tournament will be held June 21-22 at CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora.
