Yorba Linda native Bryan Leef named NAIA baseball All-American
YORBA LINDA, Calif. (BVM) – Bryan Leef’s final collegiate at bat on May 18 was emblematic of the career he had at the University of the Cumberlands.
On a night where his team was held scoreless until the final inning, Leef broke up the shutout with a moonshot home run to left field. It was the Yorba Linda native’s 29th home run of the season and 57th of his Patriots career; both marks are all-time bests in program history.

Although the Patriots’ season ended nearly a month ago in the NAIA Opening Round bracket, Leef picked up a national honor on Tuesday.
The NAIA announced its 2021 Baseball All-America teams as selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches’ Association All-America Committee and Leef represented Yorba Linda and the Patriots, earning first team All-American honors.
Leef batted .423 on the year, tallying 29 home runs and 81 RBIs on 83 hits. The highlight of his senior campaign was a three-home run, six-RBI performance against Freed-Hardman on May 9. His third home run that day was a walk-off to give the Patriots a 11-10 for the Mid-South Conference tournament championship.
