Oosthuizen will call Ocala home in retirement

OCALA, Fla. (BVM) — As one of golf’s best nears closer to retirement age, his mind has strayed towards the thought of life after the links. Louis Oosthuizen, the 38-year-old PGA golfer who probably isn’t quite ready to retire yet, has at least taken a step in that direction.

The No. 18 golfer in the world recently bought an 86-acre ranch in Ocala and plans on moving there in the near future. Oosthuizen told USA Today that in the meantime, his family will live in a rental property on Golden Ocala, the course that held an LPGA Tour event this season.

Ocala will offer the home-feel of his native South Africa, where Oosthuizen grew up on a farm and still currently owns a 150-acre ranch. His brother owns a dairy farm on the property next door, roughly 1,500 acres worth. Having this relaxing retirement ranch in Ocala will be his home away from home.

While Oosthuizen has dreamt about the idea of buying horses for his ranch already, as previously stated, retirement isn’t quite around the corner yet. He has made it to the final day of all four majors this year, including the PGA Championship last month at Kiawah Island where he took second place.

However, when he does decide to let the clubs start collecting dust, Ocala will be his new home. It continues to be a beautiful destination for celebs of the past, as Oosthuizen will join former World Series MVP Troy Glaus and movie superstar John Travolta in calling Ocala home.
