Springboro varsity basketball: 2020-21 season recap

SPRINGBORO, Ohio — Springboro High School has a fantastic and promising basketball team. The Springboro Panthers are easily identifiable on the court in their elegant blue and white colors. During the 2020-21 season, the Panthers weren’t particularly exceptional; their results and performances were below average and saw them lose all the games played on their home court having them finish at No. 6 among the seven teams in the Great Western Ohio Conference. They are currently ranked 245th among varsity basketball teams in Ohio.

The Panthers played the 2020-21 season under the tutelage of coach Kyle Youker who led them to seven wins and 12 losses in 19 games. They played 10 games in the conference, winning two and losing eight. Their non-conference record during the season was much better, winning five games and losing the remaining four. The Panthers really struggled with consistency throughout the season, going on four-game losing streaks twice and only managing consecutive victories once.

The Panthers had started the season with a loss to Mason 60-41 after which they lost the next three games in a row. Their first victory of the season finally came in a non-conference game against Hamilton in a surprising forfeiture by Hamilton, although they had won with a final score of 69-39. They then went ahead to win their next game in a 56-48 victory over Tecumseh. Their biggest win of the campaign was against Miamisburg in a playoff game that ended 61-43 which was also the team’s final game.

Springboro will be anticipating the new season and will definitely hope to do much better than in the 2020-21 campaign.
