USA Powerlifting Nationals calling Daytona Beach home

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (BVM) —  In 2020, the Ocean Center was supposed to host the USA Powerlifting Nationals. Due to COVID-19, the event got put off for a later date. At long last, the Powerlifting Nationals have finally made their way to Daytona Beach, getting underway on June 14 and running through June 19.

The event will bring athletes and families from around the country to the area, where competition for the national titles in five different divisions will be taking place: youth, master’s, raw, open and bench.

Athletes are divided into divisions based off of some demographics such as gender, weight and age. They compete in three different lifts – the squat, bench press and deadlift – with a lot on the line. The winners of this week’s competition will earn an automatic bid to the 2021 International Powerlifting Federation World Championships.
