Bacon Beatdown delivers another successful year

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (BVM) — The Ocean Center has quickly become a place for wellness and fitness. Not only has the venue hosted this year’s USA Powerlifting Nationals, but the Bacon Beatdown returned to the facility for the eighth time in nine years.

The event, which hosts competitors of all age ranges and fitness levels, is dubbed for the once-popular CrossFit era that included eating a paleo diet. This specific diet allowed the consumption of bacon, hence, the Bacon Beatdown.

To get it out of their system, these athletes meet once a year in Daytona Beach to compete in a three-day functional fitness competition. More than 1,700 participants from 37 states and five countries made up the field. Events were both for individuals and teams.

From deadlifts to snatches to power cleans and even swimming and ropes, the event truly tests these athletes’ endurance and strength. It has grown in popularity, and next year’s ten-year anniversary will see the competition take on a new name. It’ll now be known as the Atlantic Coast Classic in an effort to improve its branding.
