PG Valor announces Season 5 tryouts

LANDOVER, Md. — American Basketball Association (ABA) expansion team PG Valor announces two open tryout dates for prospective players. Before each season PG Valor holds open tryouts seeking talent to add to their roster. Tryouts are an exciting time for both players and the team as PG Valor gives an opportunity to those basketball players looking to take their careers to the next level as well as on-board new faces to the team as they enter their fifth season playing in the ABA.

“Throughout this past year and even during the COVID pandemic basketball players, and other members of the basketball communities have reached out and maintained contact with our organization. Players appear to be hungry and anxious to compete on the court and I am glad that we are finally able to provide an opportunity for them to get the exposure and career advancement opportunities that they desire and that some deserve. Prince George’s County and the DMV as a whole has a lot of talent especially in sports and whatever PG Valor can do to help spread the word about it -we will do,” states LaDonna M. Smith, PG Valor’s Owner.

Tryouts offer players the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of the PG Valor coaching staff and operations personnel. Prospects will compete to earn a potential invitation to the Valor’s training camp in late August. Tryouts represent the first steps in the extensive process of putting together PG Valor’s roster for the up and coming season. PG Valor’s season 5 also brings new coaching staff lead by Georgetown University Legend Michael “The Enforcer” Graham.

The first local tryout will be held on July 17, 2021 and the second on July 30, 2021, and both are scheduled from 7pm-10pm at the Washington Education Zone 6511 Princess Garden Parkway, Lanham, MD 20706. Prospective players must attend both dates.

All registration materials and tryout details are available now online at www.PGValor.com. Players interested in trying out are required to submit the necessary registration, release and health authorization forms along with a $100.00 nonrefundable fee by July 16. Forms can be emailed to [email protected] and payments can be sent via CASHAPP ($PGVALOR). Walk-up registration the day of the tryout will be subject to availability and require a $150.00 nonrefundable cash-only deposit at the door. Tryout spots are limited, so interested participants are strongly encouraged to preregister.

About the ABA: The ABA is a men’s professional basketball league. The original ABA was formed in 1967. In 1976, four ABA franchises merged into the NBA: the Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets, New Jersey Nets and San Antonio Spurs. The lead attorney for the ABA during the merger was Dick Tinkham, who was a co-founder of the Indiana Pacers and the commissioner of the ABA. Opposing counsel was David Stern, who later became the commissioner of the NBA. In partnership with the NBA, the ABA was reformed in 2000.

Today, the ABA has over 100 teams and 1,500 players who are former NBA players, Division 1 and 2 NCAA players, McDonald’s All-Americans, and international players. The ABA has introduced the ABA Gold, a new league that showcases the ABA’s best players.
