All things are difficult before they are easy
JACKSON, Mich. — Jacob (Jake) England has been playing golf on and off since he was 5 years old, and in his freshman year at Jackson High School, he earned his Varsity letter. His goal is to be good enough to play in college, and is seeking college scholarships within the sport.

The biggest challenge for Jake in golf has more of a mental component. He says, “I have had bad holes where I wasn’t letting it go mentally, and it would affect the next hole. It is something I haven’t fixed yet, but I’m working on it.” Jake takes the advice of both of his coaches by learning how to forget about each hole after completing it, and moving on to the next.
Jake loves golf because it is a sport you can play at any age. Prior to a match, Jake’s pregame ritual includes being quiet to find his focus. He also likes to set a goal for reaching a score and meditates on what he is going to do to reach that goal. Being a member of a team has taught Jake to be encouraging to his teammates.
Outside of golf, Jake works as a caddy at the Jackson Country Club. He is a very competitive and organized person. His favorite food is ice cream, and he has enjoyed fishing since he was little. The best advice he has been given by his parents is to always be respectful and stay humble.
