Imperial Jammers late entry into ABA

INDIANAPOLIS — The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Imperial Jammers, located in El Centro, Calif., in the Imperial Valley is the latest entry into the league which will again begin play in November.

“We are very pleased to have Ross Kurland, former owner of the San Diego Surf, back in the league,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “Ross is a very seasoned and experienced owner having been a part of the league since 2009. Ross, with his new partners, Next Level Sports 7 Worldwide Corp, should have no trouble getting up and running quickly.”

El Centro is about 90 minutes east of San Diego and is ideally located between teams in the San Diego area, Tijuana MX, Phoenix, Tucson and Las Vegas.

“Imperial County residents are big fans of the Mexicali Soles, one of Mexico’s top teams,” added Kurland. “Mexicali is just 20 minutes away, just across the border and with a population of 1.2 million residents within 30 minutes of there, we anticipate the Jammers will get the attention of all of those basketball fans. I am very excited to be back. It should be a great season.”
