Sarah Marshall makes a major impact on the track

SNELLVILLE, Ga. (BVM)‌ ‌–‌ The words “major impact” describe Sarah Marshall in two ways. Not only has she had a major impact in the track world, but she’s also part of the team Major Impact of Milton, Georgia.

Sarah Marshall definitely knows what it’s like to be on top. She places in the top-three quite often in all of her events. In fact, in her 2021 outdoor season, she placed top-three all but two times out of 19 races.

Marshall is ranked top-three in the 100m, 200m and 400m in Georgia and ranked top-five in the nation in those three events.

Sarah recently earned a first-place medal in the 400m at the Youth National Championships. At only 11 years old, Marshall is just at the beginning of her track career but already shows poise and dedication that you would expect to see from someone twice her age.

Marshall is on the right track to greatness, getting all A’s in school and even having a large following on social media. Her 16,000 dedicated fans make sure to show their support in the comments on all of her posts.

On Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, Marshall showcases her achievements, races and workout videos.

Through her platform she has been able to interact with her fans which include other youth who look up to her. Marshall has also been able to network with older athletes who she looks up to like Jordynn West, who is a 14 year old multiple-time All-American middle distance runner and jumper, and Aliya and Jasmine Abrams who are sisters and both Olympians.

Marshall’s passion for running began when she was 6 years old when she participated in her school’s field day activities. Someone noticed her speed and had a casual conversation with her about running for a club team. From there, Marshall started conditioning. That same year, Marshall earned three AAU Junior Olympics medals, and after that, it was all history.

When asked what was her proudest moment of her short but prestigious career, Marshall named a feat that she completed in at the beginning of her running career.

Marshall said, “My most proudest moment of my entire career is when I ran a 60-second 400m.”

For people who don’t know how fast that is for a 6 year old, it’s pretty fast. To put this into perspective, the fastest 6 year old of the 2021 outdoor season runs a 1:05. The next two fastest runners run a 1:09.

Although Marshall currently only competes in the 100m, 200m and 400m, which are all sprinting events, she plans to add more events to her repertoire.

“I run the 100m, 200m and 400m, but I’m going to start mixing it up next season,” Marshall said.

Marshall has a great team of support behind her, including family, friends, doctors, coaches and fans. Her future is bright and she is definitely doing everything right in order to be successful as a student-athlete wherever she goes in life.

“I was born to succeed and I believe in my future,” Marshall said.
