Adam Auston: a youth football gem in Lawton, Oklahoma

LAWTON, Okla. — Sports and athletics generally are quite big in the United States. There are millions of fans following different varieties of sport, ranging from baseball, basketball, football, soccer, gymnastics, the list goes on. There are talents enrolling in schools every year in every nook and crannies of the country. The volume of funding and scholarships available to young athletes who can prove themselves to deliver on the big stage is also mouth-watering.

The same is the case in Oklahoma State. Located in the South-Central region of the U.S. and bordered by states such as Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, New Mexico and Colorado; it is safe to say the sports culture in these neighboring states definitely rubbed off on Oklahoma. In Oklahoma, there is big excitement when there is a sporting event, however, the excitement and hype is basically off the charts when it’s football. To put things in perspective, if the level of excitement for other games is at about 100%, expect the excitement for football is over 300%. Football is clearly the biggest sport and especially in Lawton.

Over the years, there has been several exciting projects in Lawton when it comes to tapping raw talents. More recently, Jason Scott, a highly respected sports-mind established the Lawton Tigers Youth Sports Organization. Although the idea was to have a team in virtually all the common sports in the U.S., the organization was established in 2017 with just one football team. It is a volunteer organization dedicated to serving the youth of the Lawson community through sports of football, basketball, baseball and cheerleading. The name that always resonates when talking about the team is the rising star Adam Auston, who is 13. He started training with the organization since its inception. All the coaches and scouts that have met, trained and worked with him admit this kid is special.

As a young footballer, he was invited to the Lawton Tiger Diamond All-American in the D3 series alongside his other teammates; Jesse Eaton and Ricky Wonak Jr. At the age of 10, the young footballer was nominated for the Diamond All-Stars to play in Dallas in 2018 where athletes from all over the United States, Germany and Canada joined in the competition, making it one of the largest youth sports spotlights around. At only 13, he is growing in leaps and bounds to adapt to the physicality, technicality and mentality that is needed to succeed in the game at the very top.

In addition, this evidently talented lad got nominated for Diamond All-Americans to play in Bullhead City, Ariz. in 2021. He was also among the representatives of the Tigers in Fort Worth Texas at the 1st Annual CR (Reggie Swinton) National All-stars, an event where he made an incredible impact on the watching audience. It is clear to see that there is real talent when it comes to Adam Auston. He also seems to have a team, management and family around him that are dearly invested in seeing him succeed, either as a college player or in the NFL.
