Oklahoma and Nebraska renew rivalry

NORMAN, Okla. (BVM) — Saturday is sure to be a special day in college football as Oklahoma and Nebraska will renew an age-old rivalry in Norman.

It will be the 87th time the two teams meet and it could prove to be a thrilling scene for the players, coaches and fans.

“It’s one of the greatest rivalries in the history of this game,” Oklahoma head football coach Lincoln Riley said in a press conference.

Scheduled to be on Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff, this game could spark the once great rivalry again. But that may be hard to do considering some of the players that will take part in the game weren’t even born when the rivalry was at its peak.

“I know it was a big rivalry back in the day,” Spencer Rattler said in a press conference. “It’s going to be a fun atmosphere, especially being at home.”

For years, the matchup between the Sooners and Cornhuskers was one of the premier matchups in the sport. But with factors like the Big 12 forming divisions and Nebraska moving to the Big 10, the matchup has been taken away from college football fans.

But it is back this year. And even if the glamour of the 1990s Nebraska teams has worn off or the two teams don’t play each other constantly, it is sure to be an electric game for college football fans around the country.
