Normal U-High takes both boys and girls intercity cross country titles
NORMAL, Ill. — Senior, Delaney Fitzgerald put up a fight finding herself neck to neck with Normal Community Sophomore superstar, Ali Ince. Ince coming off of state titles in three different events, Fitzgerald knew she had her work cut out for her. Fitzgerald hung with Ince for the first half of the race and even nosed ahead momentarily before Ince ultimately pulled ahead with a strong final 400M. Ince may have taken the individual race title, but Fitzgerald’s strong performance was enough to help her team capture the Intercity Title. The top 5 finishes put U-high on top for the girls team. Normal Community and Normal West tied for second, however official 2nd place went to Normal Community on a 6th runner’s tie breaker.
The boys’ title went to U-high as well also by a narrow margin. The top 5 finishers for the boys resulted in a tie between U-high and Normal Community, however pulling in a 6th runner’s results put U-high on top. Congratulations to all for a hard fought Intercity Tournament!
