London Knights returning to action after long layoff

LONDON, Ontario — It has been nearly three weeks since the London Knights last played a game. The team was supposed to meet the Hamilton Bulldogs on Sept. 17 but the contest was postponed to Sept. 28. The Knights will be back in action on Friday night as they play host to the Barrie Colts.

The teams split their season series in 2019-20 one game apiece. With that season cut short and the 2020-21 campaign canceled, it has been a while since the clubs met. London has taken three of the last four matchups with the Colts.

Barrie is 2-1 so far in pre-season action. The Colts have split a pair of games with the Kitchener Rangers and defeated the Owen Sound Attack. Nathan Allensen has led the scoring for Barrie in exhibition play with a goal and three assists. Ethan Cardwell has added two goals and one helper for the Colts.

London has split a pair of games with the Sarnia Sting so far. Colton Smith has found the back of the net three times in the Knights first two pre-season tilts. London will have goaltender Brett Brochu and forward Stuart Rolofs eligible for the game after being returned from NHL rookie camps.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Budweiser Gardens. This will be the third of six pre-season games for London. The regular season begins Oct. 8 at home versus Owen Sound.
