Bay City All Saints and Bay City Central volleyball played two tough matchups on Monday

BAY CITY, Mich. – The Bay City All Saints pushed back when Carsonville-Port Sanilac led the team to an edge on Monday. The All Saints was able to get through a tough crunch time with a three-set victory 28-26, 25-9, 25-23.

All Saints head coach Dianna Sutton, while admiring her team, said, “The girls battled hard tonight. I am proud of their hustle and teamwork.”

Two times there was a make-or-break situation for Cougars, but both times they were successful in fighting against Carsonville and were able to come away with a crucial North Central Thumb League win. The first and third games came down at the wire, giving the Bay City All Saints a tough time, but they were able to maintain their focus enough to win.

Iris Costilla gave a ten-dig performance for All Saints. Lili Costilla provided six kills, 15 digs, and 21 assists. Annaka Neetz came with 12 kills, and Pricilla Cruz had 15 digs.

Bay City All Saints are going to play at Caseville on Thursday.

That wasn’t the lone match in Bay City as the contest between Bay City Central and Lapeer was a nail-biting one as well. The Wolves were firm in their defense and stood strong, having a fourth set victory and sending the fifth set to the wire before ultimately falling to Lapeer 3-2 with a score line of 23-25, 26-24, 25-22, 18-25, 15-13 in the Saginaw Valley League.

Central Bay City Coach Christine Davila said, “We did show improvement with blocking the middle attacker, zone serving, and passing. But we lacked communication and discipline on little things to finish the top.”

She also appreciated the performance of Emma Bernelis and Stephanie Ramos for their incredible defensive strength. Aysia Smith’s play at the net was also worth mentioning. Six service points were won by Abby Keenan.
