Mount Olive Marauders defeat the Mendham Minutemen field hockey

MENDHAM, N.J. —  The Mendham Minutemen field hockey team suffered a tough loss to the Mount Olive Marauders this past Saturday. Junior Riley Trotter pitched in for Mount Olive by recording a goal and an assist. Her teammate senior Natalie Burleigh added two assists in the Marauders’ victory over Mendham.

Although the game was at home for Mendham, they seemed to never find traction and momentum throughout the game. Seniors Allie Corsey and Zoey Grub also recorded a goal each. The hero of the game for the Marauders was their goalie, one of two sophomores throughout the entire team, Carly Smith. Smith played lights out by recording 14 saves for the Marauders, per NJ.com.

The Marauders came out victorious in convincing fashion, 4-0 over Mendham. Mendham advances to 4 8-1 while Mount Olive advances to 4-4.

Mendham struggled at home, however, they did have some positive takeaways from this game. Senior Kate Chittenden gave Mendham a 1-0 lead early in the game. Although senior Angelina Quinn gave up four goals to the Marauders she also saved three goals.
