Webster Cross Country: Freyling, Williams lead way for Gorloks

ST. LOUIS — Yesterday, Webster University’s men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational in Rock Island, Illinois.

Nathan Freyling was the star for the men’s team, finishing in 68th place out of 340 runners. Freyling clocked in at 26:59.7. Cameron Sakuma came in 106th place and was the next best finisher for Webster. He clocked in at 27:48.9.

Out of 24 teams, the men’s team finished in 19th place.

The women’s team only had four runners competing and did not finish with a team score.

Kyanne Ruth Williams led the way for the women’s team, finishing 36th out of 297 total runners. Williams finished with a time of 23:46.1, a personal record. Danielle Schultz also had personal best. She finished in 55th and clocked in with a time of 24:27.2.

The men’s and women’s teams have a week off. They’ll return to the track on Oct. 15, as they will compete in the Greenville University Invitational. 

The women’s race begins at 4 p.m. The men’s race will get underway at 4:40 p.m.
