Zack Stringer: Regina Pats outstanding goal-scorer

REGINA, Saskatchewan — “With his ability to score goals he’ll be a welcome addition to our forward group,” said Regina Pats VP of hockey operations and general manager John Paddock after the team acquired Zack Stringer from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in August.

Zack Stringer is the right person if you are looking for a winger who scores and provides more assists than the number of games he plays. The number of his average goals and assists right from when he played with Lethbridge Golden Hawks in 2015-16 is jaw-dropping.

Stringer, 18,  was born on Apri 10l, 2003, in Lethbridge, a province of Alberta.. He plays from the left, weighs 75 kilograms and is 6-foot tall. He recently signed for the Regina Pats in the 2021-22 season.

Zack Stringer was at the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League in the 2015-16 season, where he played with Lethbridge Golden Hawks U15 AAA. He played 29 games, scored 13 goals and provided 14 assists. In addition, he played 12 games in the playoffs, scored seven goals, and provided three assists.

In the 2016-17 season, Stringer’s assists and goal-scoring were on another level. Only one player, Kadyn Chabot, had more goals than him. Stringer played 32 games– four less than Chabot. He scored 32 goals and provided 36 assists, making him the third player with the highest total points that season.

In the playoffs, he was not different. He played 13 games, scored eight goals, and provided 11 assists. Only Greig scored more goals (two more goals) than him, but he had the highest number of assists. In addition, he was ranked first as the player with the highest total points in the playoffs.

Zack moved to the Lethbridge Hurricanes U18 AAA the following season in the Alberta Elite Hockey League. He played 23 games, and he didn’t disappoint in front of the goal. He scored 17 goals and provided 13 assists. This is another more goal and assists average than the number of games played.

He also scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 10 games played during the playoffs. Even with playing seven games less than most players, he was ranked fifth among players with the highest total points in the 2017-18 regular season. Again, no player had more goals than him in the playoffs, even though he played two fewer games than most of them.

The 2018-19 season was also not different for Stringer. In 30 games, he made a total of 41 total points with 14 goals, and 27 assists. He was ranked third in total points that season and provided two assists in three games played during the playoffs. He briefly played eight games in the Western Hockey League with the Hurricanes, scoring one goal and providing three assists. In the playoffs, Stringer scored a goal and provided two assists.

In the 2019-20 and 2020-21 Western Hockey League seasons with the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Zack played a total of 71 games, scored 16 goals, and provided 32 assists before playing for Drayton Valley Thunder in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. However, he played only four games and provided one assist there.

Before joining the Regina Pats, Zack had played 197 games with a combined 219 goals and assists. This guy is a goal machine with more goals contributed in his career than games played. Paddock was right when he said Zack could score goals.

In two games with the Regina Pats this season, he has recorded an assist and a goal. His coach David Struch, the other players, and his fans are lucky to have Zack Stringer on their side because Stringer’s goals have helped his previous teams to have fewer heartaches after every game.
