WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Congratulations to the Kirkfield Westwood U19 girls’ fastball team on winning the Silver Medal in the 2021 City Championships on Sunday, September 12.

The players, coaching staff and families persevered through, to say the least, a very challenging season. Respecting Covid restrictions, practices and games had to be rescheduled from the regular spring season to a summer schedule, which presented a unique challenge to all the players and their families.

After playing through the heat of summer, which set temperature highs, the team finished second in the league with an 8-2-1 record. In playoffs, the Gold Medal game came down to the KW U19 and the Headingley U19 team. Congratulations also goes out to the Gold Medal winners, the Headingley U19 girls’ fastball team.

The KW U19 team is a fantastic group of young ladies, who brought positive energy and enthusiasm to the ball diamond every practice and game. The majority of the team has been playing together for about nine years and have built many lasting friendships that will continue well past their fastball careers.

This is definitely a feather in the cap of Northwest Fastball, affiliate of Manitoba Angels, and St. James fastball to have two of its teams in the Gold Medal game.
