Levy of Chattanooga takes on powerlifting before pharmacy school and wins big at USPA competition

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Brie Levy of Chattanooga recently competed in the United States Powerlifting Association (USPA) Southside Strength Showdown powerlifting competition.

Brie Levy, the daughter of Michael and Ann Levy, has lived in the Chattanooga area most of her life and has been considered an athlete for a long time.

Levy, considered to be competitive by her family, originally played softball for both Chattanooga State Community College, and was also a starting right fielder for Truett McConnel University. She helped them win their first conference championship and helped them to qualify for the nationals during the two years that she was there.

Now attending Bill Gatten School of Pharmacy at ETSU, she turned to powerlifting over the summer while waiting for school to start.

The USPA Powerlifting competition that she went to in Brentwood saw Ms. Levy taking home first place in her weight class. She also won overall for Best Female Lifter.

Not only that, but Ms. Levy also set three Tennessee state records for powerlifting, lifting 440.9 pounds in squatting, 451.9 pounds in deadlift, and 1129.9 pounds for total weight lifted.
