Friday night five: OSSAA football top 5 performances in Week 10

With the playoffs on the horizon, teams have shown they are ready for the bright lights. Under those bright lights five Oklahoma high school football players delivered big for their teams. Here are the top five from this past week.

No. 5 Reese Roller, Jr. RB/LB, Verdigris

Roller helped the Cardinals win in dominating fashion against Vinita High School. He had 18 total tackles and four sacks. Along with a great performance on the defensive side of the ball Roller rushed four times for 40 yards and two touchdowns. Roller and the Verdigris Cardinals take on the Seminole Chieftains this Friday.

No. 4 Eric Virgil Sr. RB, Hilldale

It was a high-scoring affair between the Hilldale Hornets and the Fort Gibson Tigers and Virgil played an important role in Hilldale’s 49-46 victory. He carried the ball 22 times for 282 yards and caught three passes for 52 yards. In all, Virgil scored four TDs. Hilldale will take on the Wagoner BulldNogs this Friday.

No. 3 Logan Hattaway, Jr. RB, Claremore Sequoyah

The Claremore Sequoyah Eagles defeated the Adair Warriors 28-14 last Friday. One of the performances stood out from the rest. Hattaway rushed 21 times for 254 yards and three TDs. He also converted a two-point conversion. Now the junior RB and the Eagles will take on the Beggs Demons this week.

No. 2 Camden Crooks, JR. WR/DB, Cushing

Crooks dominated both sides of the ball in a 35-16 win against the Harrah Panthers. He caught nine passes for 232 yards and three TDs. On defense he would record 10 total tackles. It was a great win for the team on Crooks. Now they’ll both look forward to a matchup with the Elk City Elks on Friday.

No. 1 Chance Wilson, Jr. QB, Rejoice Christian

The Rejoice Christian Eagles moved to 9-1 on the season after defeating the Sperry Pirates 48-14. In that victory, Wilson racked up 402 total yards and seven TDs. He completed 78% of his passes for 242 yards and three TDs. He also rushed 12 times for 160 yards and four touchdowns. It was a Matt Corral-esque performance. He’ll look to do it again as the Eagles take on the Kiefer Trojans.
