Bassel Harfouch leads the Tampa Bay Titans in the office and on the court

TAMPA, Fla. — There are few stories quite like that of the Tampa Bay Titans, a basketball team founded in 2018 that plays in The Basketball League (TBL). Bassel Harfouch, owner and CEO of the institution, is also a player on a talented squad.

Harfouch was born on Dec. 16, 1993, in Tampa, Florida, and developed a natural talent for basketball from a young age. At 27, he is the owner, CEO and guard of the Titans, a team with which he tries to be a TBL champion while building a good work environment for everyone in the organization.

The relevance of the Titans is not something to take lightly. Located in Springhill, they are the first professional basketball team to land in Tampa Bay. Going forward, the relationship with the TBL could be beneficial for developing new talent in the city, as it is the first professional league in the U.S. other than the NBA and its G-League since the ABA in 1967.

The Titans are an option for players who are not drafted by the NBA. The work of the owner and CEO of the team must be impeccable both in the office and on the court to take advantage of all the talent that exists in the city and that which can come from elsewhere.

Harfouch’s staff is full of experience. Gerald William is the general manager. William played baseball for 14 years and won the World Series twice with the Yankees. DeMarcus Berry is the head coach. In Berry’s basketball career, he played in Europe and Australia. All the people who work in the Titans organization are on the same path to grow within the bay area to provide a better future for players and employees.

In the 2021 season, the Titans did not advance to the playoffs, but Harfouch’s performance was featured prominently in several categories. He was the leader for the second consecutive year in five statistics, had the best average of assists (6.2), points (24.1), defensive rebounds (6.6), offensive rebounds (3.2) and total rebounds (9.9). In addition, he was in the top five for free throws (79.7%) and field goals (56.0%).

As the 2022 season rolls around, Harfouch is currently playing the 2021 Lebanese Basketball Championship with Atlas Ferzol. Thanks to his Lebanese origins, the owner and CEO of the Titans can show his talents in this Asian league. Like in Tampa, Harfouch is one of the best players in the Atlas. He just joined the team, had a favorable impact and stood out in points, assists and rebounds.

Next year, it will be interesting to see how the Tampa Bay Titans evolve, led by Harfouch, as they seek the TBL championship to join the list of teams that have recently been successful in the city.
