Harrodsburg’s Lexy Lake is a three-point assassin on the court

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Kentucky – Lexy Lake is again excelling in her graduate season at Campbellsville University. Lexy has been playing with her sister, Faith, for her whole college career. Both sisters are scorers but in different ways. Faith shoots the balls well but does not take too many three-pointers, while Lexy has become deadly from beyond the arc.

Before I continue, let me give you some insight into Lexy. She grew up in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, and played basketball and ran track at Mercer County High School. She was a strong track athlete and got second in the 3200m relay at the track championships in her senior year. However, she was an even stronger basketball player and scored 1,000 points in her high school career. She helped lead her high school team to four-straight regional titles and a state championship in her senior year.

After high school, she enrolled in Campbellsville University, a Christian college with an NAIA basketball program. She became a key piece off the bench in her freshman year. She averaged a productive 5.4 points a game in 13.5 minutes. She was deadly from behind the three-point line and made 51 three-pointers. Her best games from behind the three-point line came against the University of the Virgin Islands early in the season. She went 11-19 in those two games and torched the Virgin Islands’ defense.

Lexy’s basketball success continued into her sophomore season. She started all 32 games. She averaged 9.8 points per game and became a defensive wizard with her 2.1 steals per game. She continued to be dominant from behind the three-point line, making 41.7% of her three-point attempts. She went 9-15 from behind the arc in a game against Cumberland University. She finished the season with second team All Mid-South Conference honors and Academic All Mid-South Conference honors.

Lexy was demoted from the starting role in her junior year. She started 12 games but came off the bench for ten. Even though she came off the bench a lot, her numbers stayed consistent. She averaged 8.6 points per game and 1.8 steals. She shot 37.5% from behind the three-point line and 80% from the free-throw line. She again finished the season with second team All Mid-South Conference honors and Academic All Mid-South Conference honors.

I am happy to say that Lexy has reclaimed her starting role this season and is starting alongside her sister, Faith. Campbellsville has played in six games this season and is unbeaten. Lexy is a big part of that and is having another great shooting year. She is averaging over 2.5 steals per game. The season is jus beginning, but Lexy may have her best season yet.
