The passion driven Pinecrest Premier Soccer Club

PINECREST, Fla. — Passion can drive anyone to do anything, which is the case with the Pinecrest Premier Soccer Club.

In 2001, a group of parents passionate about soccer came together to start the Pinecrest Premier Soccer Club. Today, the club, which began with a few children, comprises almost 50 boys and girls competing in the Florida United Girls Soccer Association, Florida Soccer League for Girls and South Florida United Youth Soccer Association League in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties.

Pinecrest Premier Soccer Club is one of the few soccer clubs in Florida that offers each of its players one of the most advanced youth soccer development programs available. They also have an impressive array of professionally licensed coaches that train the team, which ranges from U9 to U16.

They strive to provide a suitable environment that allows their players to not only grow and learn the game of soccer but also to develop lifelong skills that will help them excel both on and off the field. Their mission is to empower the youth in the community to pursue excellence in everything they do and develop a passion for the sport through promoting the game of soccer using six main strategies: fun, respect, leadership, integrity, community and competition.

“The first thing I try to instill into these kids is discipline,” Anthony Stewart, the goalkeeping coach of the club, said when speaking on the most important thing he would like to teach the kids as a coach.

Since their founding 20 years ago, they have won many trophies and produced quality soccer players playing at different levels across Florida and the United States. One of their first trophies came in 2005 when the Blue Boys won the Palm Beach Gardens Classic. In the same year, one of the girl’s teams won the high school division also in the Palm Beach Garden Classic.

In 2008, the White Boys were the finalists in the United Soccer Cup under Coach Ruben, while the Blue Boys won gold at the West Pine Classic under Coach Dennis. The girls team was not left behind as they won the 2008 PBG Classic Championship under Coach Ramiro.

The year 2010 was another good year for the Pinecrest Premier Soccer Club, as the girls made two finals: the West Pines Classic finals and the Playfor8 finals. They won the gold in the Playfor8 finals, while the boys made the West Pines Kickoff Classic finals.

In 2011, Coach Maria and her girls were almost unstoppable in all the competitions they played in. She led the girls team to win gold in the United Soccer Cup and West Pines Classic. Coach Maria also led the girls to a division win in the Alliance Cup, where the girls scored 16 goals, with four of those goals coming in the finals. They also became finalists at the PGB Classic.

The Blue Boys won the PBG Classic under Coach Franchot in 2012.

Another outstanding and one of the most experienced coaches in the club is Coach Domenico Gendarme, who joined the club in the 2017-18 season and has improved the players since he joined. Before joining the club, he was the head coach of the Inter-Academy Florida U7 in the 2015-16 season.

He moved to FC Barcelona Escola Camp in the 2016-17 season where he was the coach for the U14 and U15 teams. He became the head coach of the Miami United FC U19 team in the 2017 season and the Real Madrid Foundation Clinic coach for the U16 team in the same year before joining Pinecrest Premier Soccer Club.

The club goes to any length to bring in the best professionals to coach the children because, to them, soccer is a great sport and they are passionate about it.

“Soccer is a great sport to start children in,” Antonio Paz, the club’s recreation director, said. “It is fun, helps teach coordination and discipline as children acquire the technical skills of the sport. But most of all, it instills team building which can be of benefit in other areas of life, too.”

The engine that has driven the Pinecrest Premier Soccer Club in the last 20 years is the passion of all involved in the club, and we know the club will achieve greater things as long as passion keeps driving them forward.
