Munster forward Brandon Trilli shows that he has star potential

MUNSTER, Ind. — Brandon Trilli, the junior small forward who transferred from Phoenix to Munster High School, is starting off the 2021-22 season with a bang.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 195 pounds, Trilli has the size and athleticism to make an immediate impact for the Mustangs, which is exactly what he’s doing.

Trilli originally played for the Desert Vista High School varsity team in Arizona before moving to northwest Indiana to play for Munster. However, in just six regular season games, the junior forward is already making major contributions for the Mustangs on the court.

In his first game of the year, which came against Hammond Bishop Noll, Trilli put on a clinic, scoring an impressive 25 points in a 60-42 victory over the Mustangs.

In the very next matchup, which came against Portage, Trilli delivered another stellar performance. He scored 21 points and was part of a defensive effort that limited the Indians to only 37 points of offense.

Munster is currently off to a 5-1 start to the season, with Trilli serving as a centerpiece for the team. The hope is that Munster can continue to rack up wins and establish a rhythm before conference play begins.

After going 17-6 the previous season and making an appearance in the Class 4A State Tournament championship game, expectations are high for Trilli and the Mustangs. They are hoping to finish the season again with a perfect record in their conference.

Munster will begin conference play on Jan. 1 against Kankakee Valley, as the Mustangs look to continue their dominance against northwest Indiana opponents.

Trilli is currently averaging 21.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, demonstrating his shooting accuracy from the perimeter, his ability to box out opponents and his overall basketball acumen.

Trilli is certainly already becoming a dominant player, but if he can continue to improve, the sky will be the limit for the small forward from Phoenix. He is currently turning heads and putting all of northwest Indiana on notice. Although the junior small forward is only six games into his Indiana high school basketball career, he is already receiving plenty of recognition.

Prep Hoops, an independent basketball association that scouts high school players throughout the country, recently declared Trilli as one of the top-5 small forwards to keep an eye on for the Class of 2023 in Indiana.

With a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck, Trilli can potentially parlay his basketball career well beyond the high school ranks.
