Special Olympics bowler Zack Henderson has high scores as self-taught player

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Zackory “Zack” Henderson (25) is known for his bowling skills with his teams the Mixed Nuts at Royal Lanes and Dorchester Dragons at Sandpiper Lanes. Zack is a self-taught bowler, and his consistency over the last seven years has paid off!

He is a Special Olympian and shared one of his goals is: “To bowl a three hundred game and to become a professional eventually.” Zack is certainly on his way, as his highest game has been a 297! Not to mention his best series of 778, which is pictured—how outstanding!

Zack has such a great attitude as he works towards his goals; he shared: “I missed the last ball on a perfect game but stayed positive and tried to do it again the next game.” Not only does Zack have his personal goals, he enjoys being on a team and being able to compete with other bowlers as well.

“I have really enjoyed bowling,” he said. “It has allowed me to interact with others.” Zack has also been positively impacted by his coaches and mentors: “Richard Dennis is the reason I began bowling and Mike Berndt has given me lots of advice and is helping me take that next step in my career.” It is a reminder that we all can encourage others to do great things!
