Spencer County HS wrestling teams have strong start to season
TAYLORSVILLE, Ky. — Spencer County High School wrestling kicked off its season in November. The Lady Bears wrestlers headed to Tates Creek High School for a girl’s tournament and the young wrestlers came up big. Symphony Sharp, Ariella Kuric, and Paeten Gustinis all competed for the first time in high school, and all three ladies came out strong posting first-round wins. And all finished on the podium with three bronze medals.
Later, Bullitt East and Southern High School traveled to Spencer County to compete in the Spencer County Tri-Duals. The Bears battled it out against these two strong programs and finished with a win over Southern but took a loss to East. All of the wrestlers gave their all, but some wrestlers stood out, winning both of their matches.
Hunter Gustinis wrestled at 106-pounds and won both of his matches for the high school team, even though Hunter is only in the seventh grade. Braydon Kessinger wrestling at 132-pounds, Riley Burton at 157-pounds, Mason Wright at 165-pounds, and Devin Rahrig at 190-pounds all won both matches that night.
It was a strong start to what promises to be a strong season for the Bears Wrestlers.
