INDIANAPOLIS — The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Oil City Roughnecks have been added to its lineup of expansion teams set to begin play in November.

“We’re very pleased to have Darren ‘Slim’ Akers and The Creative Agency returning to the league with a team in Oil City, PA,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “They’re a very interesting group with a lot of unique ideas and it is a great fit.”

The Creative Agency, a Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment consultant firm has worked with brands like Nike, Gatorade, Puma, NBA, NFL and other high-level companies.

“Our main mission is to get overlooked young men the exposure they need to advance as professional basketball players,” added Akers. “We want to make an impact on Oil City that positively enhances the quality of life and entertainment in the community. Our partnership with the AAU will allow us to build a solid traveling kid’s team along with free camps this summer. The team will be holding tryouts for players and cheerleaders in April also.”
