Meet Western Wayne HS wrestler Lexi DeSiato

LAKE ARIEL, Pa. — Lexi DeSiato is a sophomore at Western Wayne High School and a star athlete! She competes in both soccer and wrestling, but wrestling is her main focus, and she has been doing it for seven years!

As a pregame ritual, she always walks around before her matches and “talks herself up”. She works very hard at her sport especially when up against her hardest challenge, which is competing against boys who are stronger than she is. “When this happens,” Lexi explains. “I just go out and wrestle my hardest no matter the opponent.”

She takes strength from the talks she has before her matches with both of her coaches. They tell her that they love her no matter the outcome of the match she is about to participate in.

Lexi admits that mistakes are made in every match. To work on correcting these, she watches her matches over and over and talks to her coaches, asking what she can do to improve herself. She tells us that the best advice she was ever given was, “To keep going even when people push you down.”

Being a member of a team has taught Lexi to work with others whether they think highly of you or not. She loves it when everyone in the stands is cheering for her and then comes over to congratulate her after her match, no matter the outcome.

Outside of wrestling, Lexi likes to just hang out with her friends. As for her future, Lexi definitely wants to continue wrestling at the collegiate level, and only has a few words for us, “Girls’ wrestling is here to stay!!”
