Broadlands area siblings give it 100% on and off the court

BROADLANDS, VA. — Jaden and Nina Keltz are natural athletes who share a passion for all things outdoors and sports. They both play sports year-round and share a love for basketball and lacrosse.
Jaden, 14 years old, and Nina, 13 years old, both attend middle school in Broadlands, Virginia and have been playing sports since they walk.

“I am a very active kid and I love sports,” Jaden shares. “My family and I spend a lot of time together at the gym, on fields, and courts playing different sports.” Whether it’s hiking, going to tournaments, or cheering on the kids at sporting events, the Keltz family loves playing together.

Jaden grew up playing lacrosse since he was five years old and started playing basketball in third grade. He naturally gravitates to the basketball court because his idol is Michael Jordan. “He [Michael Jordan] inspires me because he never gave up and always gave it 100%,” he says. “When I play, whatever sport it is, I always give it 100 percent of my energy and my best effort.”

Jaden just finished his last season after three great years playing for his local middle school, and he hopes to continue playing in high school. He also plays on a travel basketball team called Team Attack. “I play point guard and shooting guard on my basketball team,” he describes. “I love basketball because it is a fun fast-paced game.”

When Jaden is not on the court, you can find him playing lacrosse for the Dulles South Storm where he plays midfield.

Like her brother, Nina, is also a natural born athlete and loves to find new adventures outside with her family on and off the court.

Nina has played many sports over the years- basketball, lacrosse, and soccer, but basketball is her passion. “I played for the Eagle Ridge girls basketball team, and right now I play for a travel team called Flight,” she says. “I have been playing since I was in fifth grade and quickly fell in love with the sport.” Nina plays shooting guard and point guard on her team and loves creating plays and having a good pass that helps her team out on the court, which helped because Nina’s team was undefeated this season!

“My travel coaches inspire me because they are always positive and help teach us to have good sportsmanship,” she shares. Nina strives to model and channel positivity in anything she puts her mind to. As a young athlete who plays multiple sports, focuses on school, and keeps a social life, she has learned, “You need to be coachable, have good energy, and be a cheerleader for your teammates. Having great energy and cheering on your teammates is so important to the chemistry and bond of your team,” she says. “Always have your teammates back and be a great friend.”
