Pack Elite Wrestling builds program back up post-pandemic

LAPEER, Mich. — Pack Elite Wrestling coaches Drew Dixon, Director and Owner, and Alex Puckett are no strangers to the sport of Wrestling, but they were unsure on what to do for the culture in 2020.  During the Covid-19 Pandemic, wrestling, in particular, was jeopardized.

It was unclear what opportunities or the new “normal” would be for these athletes.  Wrestlers were losing out on the opportunity to train with lost mat time, practice sessions, and tournaments.

Coach Drew says, “We decided to build a wrestling facility from the ground up that would ensure wrestlers the ability to hit the mats.  Pack Elite now provides collegiate level wrestling training that is affordable, competitive, and provides the opportunity to train for in-state and out-of-state tournaments.  The goal of Pack Elite is to continue to develop athletes into reaching their full potential and strengthen the culture within the sport of wrestling in our community.”

Pack Elite attributes its success during its first year to the wrestlers who have remained dedicated and hardworking along with the coaches that pushed them past their comfort zones for continued growth in both mind-set and technique.  They do not really have any pre-tournament rituals, they just put in extra time and training to prepare.  It’s not uncommon for new members to check out Pack Elite by dropping in to our featured grind sessions.  Grind sessions are the toughest in terms of training–physically and mentally; however, it often leads to them wanting more.

How does Pack Elite feel about celebrations? Celebrations can leave the kids feeling content with a false sense of security.  They strive to create a strong mentality for the wrestlers never to settle and always continue to find ways to improve themselves.  The wrestlers stay motivated as Pack Elite reinforces the centralized idea that they always have more potential! Coach Drew says, “At Pack Elite, we will continue to re-define and promote a culture to a sport that gives more than just a raised hand in the end.”

We look forward to see the many successes, both on and off the mats, that Pack Elite has brought to the community.  Find and like their Facebook page for updates–Pack Elite Wrestling.
