Upcoming Pawling Triathlon on July 9th

PAWLING, N.Y. — This July 9th, Pawling Recreation is hosting the Pawling Triathlon and we are looking for volunteers!

For the past 35 years, the Pawling triathlon has been a successful event not only because of the unique small-town triathlon experience it offers to athletes; it also brings people from all over the Tri-State area to our town, which supports our local businesses. The event has done a great job inviting people from all over to experience Pawling and explore our beautiful town and parks. The racers love running through our quaint village and checking out all the shops after the race. Each year, we receive amazing feedback from race participants about our community, which is always highlighted by the great work of the event’s volunteers.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are assigned a role at the start of the event; some volunteer in the morning, some start later in the day, and some choose to volunteer for the entire event. Regardless of your job as a volunteer, you are guaranteed to play an important role in helping the event be a successful one. Whether it’s directing traffic during the race, helping out at registration, or passing out water to runners during the race, volunteers are constantly recognized for their outstanding efforts by both the athletes and spectators.
As a volunteer, you’ll have fun cheering on the athletes and showing the competitors why the Pawling Triathlon is one the best triathlons in the area! We are looking for volunteers to help out along the course and at various water stations. In addition to the complimentary triathlon shirts and complimentary breakfast, this year, each volunteer will also receive a free waterfront day pass! Already have a lake membership? Use the pass to bring a friend! If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the volunteer form at www.pawlingrec.com.

About the Event

Pawling triathlon is a sprint style triathlon that begins with a swim at Lakeside Park. After the swim, the athletes mount their bicycles for the cycling portion of the event that takes them past Dykeman Farm and the set for the critically acclaimed film A Quiet Place. When the cyclists return to the park, they’ll begin their run, which takes them through the village of Pawling and back into the park. Awards will be given to our top finishers in each age group.

Interested in Racing?

Another unique aspect of the race is it’s accessibility to a variety of experience levels. The race is commonly run individually or as a relay team by participants ranging from first-timers to experienced triathletes! Some athletes choose to take on the whole course while others opt to split up the race with a group, allowing newcomers or experienced veterans to focus their training on just one leg of the race.
We are also hosting our 4th annual kids triathlon directly after the main event! This has been a great way for kids to get involved in their community. The kids triathlon consist of laps in the lake, a bike ride through the park, and a run to the finish line. The kids triathlon is divided into two age groups: under 10 and 10+.
