Get to know Chino Hills dancer Addison Eifler

CHINO HILLS, Calif. — Most people throughout the world have their own relationship with dancing. Whether that be alone in front of the mirror, or on the dance floor with friends; a vast majority of us enjoy moving to the music. With that being said, a much smaller percentage of the population possess the skill and courage to dance at a competitive level like high school freshman, Addison Eifler.

Addison has been gracing the stage from a young age, and continues to do so as a member of the CHHS Varsity Dance Team. There are many aspects of being on the team that she greatly enjoys, one of which being that, “It allows me to be social with my friends. Most of us grew up dancing together at the same studio, so the high school is a great extension to that.” She also added, “I love my high school’s costumes along with the coaches and the notoriety that comes from being on the high school dance team. The team won USA Nationals this year and several years before that consecutively.”

Throughout her time on the team, she has also faced some adversity revolving around time management. “Dance has taught me to manage my time because there is no, ‘end of the season’. Most high school sports only play in season for a semester. Dance is all throughout the school year.” This challenge has helped Addison to become more prepared for tasks later in life, and showcases the skills that are needed to succeed as a competitive dancer.

When asked what lessons she has taken away from her time on the team Addison responded, “Being a member of the CHHS Dance Team has taught me to be resilient. The team has taught me to work together in unity.  We thrive on loud music and hyping up the crowd which has taught me how influential music and dance can be.” Along the same lines, she added that the best piece of advice she received from a coach or mentor is, “When I go out on stage, I have to remember to have fun!

Off stage, Addison remains a very assertive and passionate individual. When she is not at the dance studio you can typically find her studying or enjoying a good book. Because of these personality traits, she has been able to maintain above a 4.0 grade point average while taking Honors and AP classes throughout the year. When snack time comes around, she enjoys eating the Trader Joes version of Takis, and Brookstone chocolate covered blueberries.

Addison has aspirations to dance at the collegiate level if the opportunity presents itself, and intends to try out for the Song Team at whatever school she decides to attend. However, academics are her main focus at the moment, and her primary goal is to one day work with children in the medical field. She dreams of attending Stanford University or USC to become a doctor and contribute to society through healing.
