‘Crank 4 A Cause’ on a cycling mission in Lapeer

LAPEER, Mich. — Crank 4 A Cause was put into motion by one person’s love of riding and the idea of bringing together the bicycling worlds of all types. Mt. bikers, road cyclists, casual rail trail riders and training wheelers can join us for one of our annual days of riding and running to raise funds and awareness to local charitable organizations.

Members of Crank 4 A Cause make up this nonprofit organization with riders and runners of all levels. Crank 4 A Cause was born into a non-profit December of 2019. With the struggles of COVID19 setting us back two years, year 2021 was the year of taking flight with our two annual events. September of 2021 was the inaugural Beaver Dash Bash which raised funds for the Friends of Oakdale Trails and the Lapeer City Oakdale Trail system. This was a MT. Bike and a cross country running event that will annually be held third weekend of September.

This event will benefit the Friends of Oakdale Trails and the needs to maintain and grow the trail system. This years Beaver Dash Bash is scheduled for September 24, 2022. Registration will open July 1, 2022.

May 21, 2022 was Crank 4 A Causes inaugural Spring Event and raised funds for the Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County. Held in Columbiaville, Mi, this event was based on the notion to bring families together and raising awareness to other community needs. The Spring R&R will be an annual biking and running event held in Lapeer County on third weekend of May. It is an event designed for all levels of biking and running. Each Spring R&R will move around our county to bring awareness to all the biking and running areas this wonderful community has to offer. It is a perfect event for the whole family, from the tricycle riders to the elderly rider that is still getting out there and enjoying the outdoors.

Chris Turner, Founder of Crank 4 A Cause, has a personal mission to get as many men, women and children back out on bicycles. Rather it be an old bike, new bike, E-bike of tricycle or hand peddle bike for the disabled. He and his amazing board members Chris Babcock, Jeffery Bonesteel, Jen Brnabic, Nathan Seibold, Russ Reitz and Bill Spruyette are working hard to bring awareness to the amazing areas this community has to offer.

Crank 4 A Cause with the help of many unbelievable businesses in Lapeer and surrounding areas have a goal to continue to grow in strength and partnerships. With the help of our community we can build, expand and create amazing areas for families to use.
